Here at MSC our automation team is unique. Many companies have a basic understanding on how HVAC and process cooling systems should be controlled. We pride ourselves in our unique ability to combine HVAC, refrigeration and mechanical experience with an understanding of how a system should be and can be controlled to achieve the required result for the client. In fact, control companies and clients alike depend on MSC for assistance. We provide installation, trouble shooting, calibration, and consultation for all of our clients. Superior HVAC service is what we are really about at MSC. MSC was established as a true HVAC service company in 1976 and has served the HVAC market faithfully ever since. Most HVAC companies are contractors with a service department and tout that they offer great service; but in reality, service is just a step child with few resources. AT MSC, SERVICE is our primary business and all of our resources are focused on Service. We fix problems once and for all! Our field technicians are consistently trained and are the best equipped in the industry hands down. Our clients vary across all industries including pharmaceutical, health care, industrial manufacturing, municipal government, commercial offices and equipment vendors; all of whom can depend on our Done Once, Done Right Attitude. Retrofit Replacement

Throughout the course of performing our service and diagnostic work, we often uncover equipment that needs replacement, systems that require modifications, etc. When situations like this arise, we provide design/build turnkey solutions. These can be as simple as replacing a rooftop unit and as complex as redesigning and installing an entire replacement system. We always start the process by gaining a clear understanding of our clients' true needs and objectives. This may sound simple, but often drilling down to get to the true needs and trying to satisfy them within budget constraints is quite challenging. This usually requires several iterations before we arrive at a least-cost workable solution that is acceptable to everyone. We include practical discussions of currently available technology and system designs we've seen elsewhere that work well. Once the project is completed, we balance and commission it the same as we would a system installed by others. Many clients depend on us for mission critical applications.

Air & Water Balancing

At MSC, our air and water balancing services are different than what you find elsewhere. We typically do not provide these services for new construction projects (except when problems arise and the fighting starts), as we are geared for problem solving. Accordingly, when we perform this work, it is usually part of a diagnostic or repair project where our focus is on identifying and solving the problems others have missed, created or ignored. We work diligently; but our focus is on problem solving; not racing through the work to provide a report. We are NEBB certified and own the latest and greatest tools and equipment so you can be sure the information we provide is thorough and guaranteed accurate.
In many cases we are called upon to prove or disprove what others have done, or we may be called upon to address a special situation where a client needs information and/or recommendations. Air and water balancing plays a major role in our Retro Commissioning process. We do it once and we do it right!

Commissioning

Commissioning should significantly benefit the Owner; however it seems to be headed toward becoming just another low bid checklist activity often performed by people with little hands-on experience who because of their limited field experience, focus on checklists and other paperwork which may or may not reflect the condition of the project. At MSC, we have a different and simpler approach to Commissioning. We believe that Commissioning should be a thorough hands-on startup and test of the HVAC, process cooling and control systems associated with a project. In most cases we do the equipment startup ourselves because so much can be learned about a system through the startup process. When we aren't able to do so, we verify the manufacturers' startup through testing to ensure that the work was done properly and completely. We follow similar hands-on procedures where air and water balancing, DDC control systems, etc. are concerned. In most cases we randomly check readings from the balance report or control loop functions on the control system to determine if the work was done completely and accurately. Of course we document our work but we believe the paperwork should only document a properly functioning system, and not be the project itself. We consider it our job to make sure the systems function properly. Remember, with a properly functioning system, there are few complaints and little need to chase after someone waving commissioning reports. MSC is NEBB certified for Building System Commissioning.
